DETAILS
This training is a requirement for all PSVa volunteers to complete prior to volunteering in a social support role with PSVa. This is also appropriate for those who want to learn more about offering social support either in their profession or other role. If you are a parent looking for support, please find the support group schedule on the PSVa website. Topics include: *Overview of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders *Treatment options and intervention strategies *Roles and responsibilities of social support volunteers *Launching and leading peer support groups *Role-playing scenarios and difficult situations The curriculum includes an overview and information about postpartum depression and related perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), including how to distinguish between the baby blues and PMADs; the definition, value, and types of social support. The interactive part of training will discuss how to handle difficult situations and role-playing common issues and support group scenarios that arise when supporting women experiencing PMADs. This portion of training provides sufficient time for interaction, role-playing, discussion, and feedback. As a nonprofit, we rely heavily on your support to further our mission and multiply our impact. Current PSVa volunteers can attend at no cost, please contact the Trainings coordinator to register. We want our programs to be accessible to all so if the volunteer ticket poses a hardship, please reach out to us at ksagepostpartumva.org.
